The story
Daniele Venica, the founder, on 6 February 1930 purchased the main body of the company, 10 hectares including a house with adjoining stable, arable land and surrounding vineyards, in the Crò locality in Dolegna del Collio, the northernmost municipality of the Collio, as well as the coolest place. His son Adelchi supported him in the business, even in the difficult post-war years, opening the Trattoria "Da Venica", a place of refreshment and hospitality. At the time, wine was mostly sold in bulk and still represented, in some ways, a "food" rather than a real pleasure, to be enjoyed at the table and beyond. And it was only in 1977 with his sons, Gianni and Giorgio Venica, that he (actually) moved on to bottling, thus marking a "turning point" for the company which, shortly thereafter, would begin to dedicate itself exclusively to viticulture, quickly becoming a point of reference on the regional and national wine scene. Today, there are around 40 hectares of vineyards, managed with care, attention and sensitivity. And those "strong roots", planted already in 1930, continue to prosper, thanks to the children of Ornella and Gianni, Serena and Gianpaolo Venica: the 4th generation, which represents the "tomorrow" of a company that continues to stand out among the greats.
The producer
Venica&Venica
“La sostenibilità è innanzitutto misura. In Azienda promuoviamo la viticoltura del buon senso, producendo vini che del territorio ne rappresentano il respiro più profondo”
Venica&Venica is one of the most renowned white wine companies in the Collio. In fact, most of the hectares of vineyards - around 85% - are "white berry", with the Sauvignon "Ronco delle Cime" among the most awarded ever. Intense wines, with a multifaceted aromatic profile and a fine and recurring flavor, which retain the imprint of the ponca, even after years. Wines that summarize, in their characteristics, the past, present and future of the Venica family.
