Doc Collio Sauvignon "Ronco delle Mele"

Ronco delle Mele, one of Venica & Venica's Cru and spokesperson for the "Spirit of Place" project, is one of the most representative white wines of the Family's production philosophy. The awards it has received are numerous, both from the trade press and from the final consumer; in particular, the 2001 vintage was recognized as Best White Wine Italian in the 2003 Wine Oscars nomination by Bibenda. The wine, with good reason, takes its fascinating and evocative name from the vineyard of the same name from which the grapes come from. Even today in this vineyard, in the escarpments and headlands, there are present the apple trees planted by grandfather Daniele in observance of the traditional promiscuous agriculture that saw the vines wedded to the trunks of fruit trees, used then as tensioners for the vineyard rows. A set of complex sensations are released on the nose. Elegant vegetal notes dominate, including the classic leaf of tomato, green bell pepper and grapefruit. The closure is stately, with a slight reminder of the minerality typical of the terroir. On the sip, elegance and aromaticity go hand in hand with freshness and sapidity. Warm and intense, with a call of vegetal notes that are amplified in a stage-like closure. A long future awaits it long, in the cellar along with the wines of the heart.
