Pignolo
Ruby red in color, with aromas of black berries and raspberries; spicy and persistent. Hints of leather. On the palate, the flavors mirror the aromas.

A sundial featuring Bacchus and a water nymph (agana) greets visitors above the entrance door, which leads to a small, semi-underground wine cellar with its original Venetian floor. The round arches, a reproduction of Veronese’s Bacchus, and a tapestry frame the tonneaux, barriques, and amphorae. This is not your typical winery but a small cultural haven where you can savor a glass of wine to truly experience and connect with the region. The three local varieties—Schioppettino di Prepotto, Ribolla Gialla, and Pignolo—are cultivated with care and passion, starting right in the vineyard, where all work is done exclusively by hand. In the heart of the Guarda Fuoco hills, the terraced vineyards stretch out like an amphitheater, basking in the morning sun from the east before it sets behind the woods—a pattern that creates a significant daily temperature range, ensuring rich and intense aromas. During periods of heavy rain, winds from the north help dry the soil—known as “Ponca”—a highly mineral-rich mixture of marl and sandstone dating back to the Eocene epoch, when the area was once covered by the sea. The balance between the vineyard and the forest fosters a self-regulating symbiosis from an agronomic perspective. “A Factory in the Landscape”—this is the recognition the winery received in Foligno during the 15th edition of the International Award of the Italian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO (FICLU).
