A sundial featuring Bacchus and a water nymph (agana) greets visitors above the entrance door, which leads to a small, semi-underground wine cellar with its original Venetian floor. The round-arched openings, a reproduction of Veronese’s Bacchus, and a tapestry frame the tonneaux, barriques, and amphorae. This is no ordinary winery but a small cultural haven where you can savor a glass of wine and experience the local terroir. The three local varieties—Schioppettino di Prepotto, still and classic-method Ribolla Gialla, and Pignolo—are crafted with care and passion, starting right in the vineyard, where all work is done exclusively by hand. In the heart of the Guarda Fuoco hill, the terraces stretch out in an amphitheater-like formation, basking in the morning sun from the east before it sets behind the woods, creating a significant daily temperature range that ensures rich and intense aromas. Winds from the north and northeast—even during very rainy periods—help dry the soil known as “Ponca,” a mixture of marl and sandstone dating back to the Eocene period, when the area was once a mineral-rich sea. The balance between vineyard and forest fosters a self-regulating symbiosis from an agronomic perspective. “A Factory in the Landscape”—this is the recognition the winery received in Foligno during the 15th edition of the International Award of the Italian Federation of Associations and Clubs for UNESCO (FICLU).
