The winery was founded in 1973, born out of the founder’s passion for wine and his love for his wife, to whom he dedicated the name Grillo Iole. Today, it is run by three generations of women — mother, daughter and granddaughter — a family that lives and works together, placing quality and a deep connection to the local area at the heart of everything they do. The estate cultivates around 9.4 hectares and produces approximately 40,000 bottles, with a split between whites and reds that is unusual for Friuli, yet perfectly captures the spirit of Prepotto.
Being from Friuli inevitably means producing a wide range of wines. But there is a single common thread: authentic wines that tell the story of Prepotto without pretence. The range spans whites — Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Sauvignon, including those aged in wood — and reds, vinified in both steel and wood, with a strong focus on Schioppettino di Prepotto and historic grape varieties such as Refosco and Merlot. Rounding off the range are a rosé and two sweet wines: Verduzzo and Picolit. In the cellar, the philosophy is to intervene as little as possible: each wine has its own personality, but all share elegance and freshness on the palate.
