Livon

A history spanning over 60 years, with its roots on the Ruttars hill in Dolegna del Collio, where in 1964 Dorino Livon and his wife Elda began cultivating their first “small plot of land.” In the early 1980s, their sons Valneo and Tonino joined the business, bringing new ideas and perspectives, and have led the development—and the success of the Livon brand, distinguished by ERTE’s iconic Winged Woman—to this day. The present is shaping the future, thanks to the arrival of the third generation in the company and the “passing of the torch” to Matteo Livon, the new CEO. A “family business” that makes sustainability one of the cornerstones of its future: the estate spans 180 hectares, spread across the most important DOC regions, with its heart beating between Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli. A territory managed with care, awareness, and responsibility, holding SQNPI certification—a “voluntary” integrated pest management approach that excludes the use of chemical herbicides and other potentially harmful substances, to preserve the vineyard’s balance and the quality of the grapes.

Production is around 700,000 bottles per year and is divided—primarily—into two lines: the first, simpler line, known as the “Classic Line,” involves vinification exclusively in stainless steel; the second line is called the “Cru Line”—featuring single vineyards located on the Ruttars hill and limited-production wines—with meticulous, plot-by-plot winemaking that takes place partly in wood and partly in stainless steel, always using selected yeasts. This latter line was created to highlight the exceptional potential of a unique territory like Collio, specifically in one of its most promising areas, characterized by an exceptional microclimate. These wines, in their organoleptic characteristics, preserve the elegant essence of the territory and its history. These are wines with great aging potential, meant to be savored over time.
